The Positroniks are Mark Miller and Matt Riddell working to produce a concoction of styles tempered by the New Zealand extremes.
A solid embodiment of the Auckland underground dance scene as seen by Matt Riddell infused with a sparkling vocal performance by journeyman and storyteller, Mark Miller.
The pair met in 1994 through a mutual friend and within hours were busking songs together on Queen St in the heart of Auckland city. As time progressed they found that they were easily able to create new songs on the spot while performing in front of large audiences.
Unable to quench their thirst for music through busking, the duo teamed up with various drummers and bass guitar players in the hope of forming a solid musical force.
Unfortunately it proved nigh on impossible to find musicians as committed to the cause.
They came to the realization that maybe the grass was "greener on the other side" and moved to Mark's homeland of Scotland.
Music was the topic of the day again as they played their way around the UK, each eventually pursuing to the extremes, different styles of music.
During Matt's stay in the UK, he purchased equipment for a small studio and began writing electronic music.
Once both had returned to New Zealand, they refocused their renewed energies once again towards their goals, this time with 24 hour free access to a studio with the only costs being consumables.
The Positroniks are two musicians who have been contributing individually to the scene for well over 10 years and will continue to do so.
