Five guys from Wellington, five different musical backgrounds, five different individual strengths, five guys who just wanna celebrate their collective love of music, join forces to write some songs - and so the Breathe story begins.

Five guys. A drummer who likes rock, a bass player with a preference for R&B, a keyboardist who digs The Cure, a guitarist who’s into American folk-rock and a vocalist who can sing over the top of them all. Drawn together by the power of a great song. That’s always been the glue in Breathe - a good groove, a nice melody, a catchy chorus.

They've gone from the dreamy atmospherics of debut independents EP 'Things Like These' to the lighter brighter tones of the first full length released 'Poplife' to now. 'Poplife', an album made under Murray Cammick's Wildside subsidiary Felix, introduced the nation to 'Smiley Hands', 'Drivin'', 'Started Something' and 'Purple'.

While Breathe were signed to Sony they released their debut album 'Don't Stop The Revolution' in 2000. Breathe have always prided themselves on sounding unique, and they have succeeded with coming up with a sound different to anything else.

Breathe called it quits in 2001, when drummer Guy Fisher decided to leave the band. The remaining members formed Dead End Beat.
