Holy Crime is a 4-piece Rock Band from Auckland New Zealand.
Former Members include Joey Fevz (now in a band called Esmonde) and Dean Church (now doing a solo project called The Dean Church Experience).
Each member of the group comes from diverse backgrounds, including Jazz, Pop Rock, Punk, Hardcore and Metalcore. These styles all fuse together to create Holy Crime's genre bending style.
Holy Crime began in 2020, when Richards released the single Crystal. The single was intended to be his swan song to his music career, but ended up becoming a cult hit and made that year's Rock 2000 countdown. This influenced Richards to keep pursuing his music career and find a group of guys to help him along.
In Autumn of 2021, Richards teamed up with Anderson and Stutton. Covid and a couple of member changes held the band back for awhile, but in the winter of 2022, the line-up was set in stone with Hinton joining on drums.
The band hit the live circuit in September 2022, playing their first ever show at the National Battle of The Bands competition. They eventually made it to the semi-finals.
In December 2022, Holy Crime released their debut single Play Toy, a song influenced by 1980's Glam Metal/Rock groups and lyrical content about sexual encounters between young men and older women.
The group played many shows throughout 2023, including opening slots with Hello Sailor and Taco Joint.
The band hit the studio I in mid 2023 to record their debut EP Nowhere Bound with Rowntree Studios in Leigh, New Zealand. The 5 track EP will showcase a variety of styles like Heavy Metal, County, Soft Rock, Blues and Glam. The title track Nowhere Bound was released as the lead single in January 2024 and sees the band take on a Country Rock influence that will be sure to see them appeal to a completely different crowd.
