Caught Inside are diasporic jaffas based in Poneke who make eclectic punk and politicised pop music. Departing from the hazy bars and cellars of the band’s Karangahape Road stomping ground in 2022 to study jazz at the New Zealand School of Music, Caught Inside were quick to make an impact upon the Poneke music scene, culminating in their performance at this year’s CubaDupa. In the midst of a relentless live schedule, Caught Inside have teamed up with Emily Wheatcroft-Snape (Lorde, Fazerdaze) to craft their latest project Five Star Shag, set to release in late August of 2023.
