South Auckland rock band Lawford Premise is a four-piece unit whose 'balls to the wall' sound can be heard being pumped out of a small cottage in Otahuhu.
The making of the band first began in early 2000 when guitarist, Vladimir Krasojevic, teamed up with ex high school friend and drummer, Dave Cleary, to form an original hard rock group.
After about 3 months of jamming whenever there was an opportunity to make some noise, the pair were joined by bass player Alan Grainger, and work on original material could begin.
The trio played together for the next 3 years, in which time they were accompanied by an extra guitarist and several different vocalists. Members came and went and progress was slow at times; the arduous task of trying to find a permanent Vocalist was proving to be difficult. However, the boys stuck it out and continued meeting together for regular jam sessions.
In February 2003, singer Curtis Ogilvy joined the group and took up the challenge of being the band's front man. The boys had plenty of material to hand the new Vocalist, and he now had the job of adding his finishing touch.
The first completed song with all four members was to be 'Debt Collectors' and finally the sound of Lawford Premise was in the process of being defined.
Lawford Premise has now been disbanded.
