The band got together around mid-2004 in Birkenhead, Auckland. After a series of line-up changes St Hildegard was born. The name comes from a 10th Century visionary from Germany. ‘She had a strong positive message and was into sharing positive messages through music.’
St Hildegard are fairly new but have played as much as possible since forming, with a number of NZ punk/rock bands.
Their sound would best be described as rock with touches of hardcore and punk, but they have a varying style that mixes with a lot of genres. This coming from all members having different music tastes, which they have managed to reflect in their music.
St Hildegard disbanded in mid-2005.
