Exit has only truly come together with the addition of George Zondagh (Guitar) earlier this year, however its roots can be traced back as far as 1999 when bandmates Brett Polley (Lead Guitar), Ryan Ouston (Drummer) and Tim Barnes (Bass) began jamming together under the name Blacklight. Soon joined by vocalist Aroon Xayalith, the band realised that a change in image was inevitable, and reformed under the name Exit in early 2000.
Entering into school competition Rockquest gave Exit their first taste of giging and their first sucess. From this contest sprang work, with the recording of their 1st single "Alive", released in late 2001.
After leaving school Exit began to jam hard in an effort to create a sound that they could call their own. During the time from then till now they have been living the life of a giging band, getting shows where they could, playing their own brand of rock 'n fucking roll. Image changes occured as the band realised they wanted to move away from the softer music of their earlier years and explore different sides of rock. "Exit members are passionate about music, which in the end is all that really matters" says guitarist Brett Polley.
The band plans to release a new single in the next couple of months, and will be giging across New Zealand later this year.
