From the cappuccino hills of Southern Ponsonby come New Zealand's teen sensations… "All Torn Up". Fronted by ex-borstal bad girl Patsy Crime, All Torn Up whoop up a unique blend of crazy surf-a-billy-country-punk.
Their songs- home truths about lust, love, U.F.O'S and even unwanted pregnancy - strike a chord in every young and young-at-heart heart. Patsy doesn't just sing the songs. She squeezes every tear, every last emotion out of them. One moment, she's as fragile as a lost child, cryin' for her mama… then suddenly, she's as wild as an jungle cat, angry at the devastation of her natural habitat.
The All Torn Up story began when the four band members were shacked up in a halfway house in darkest Herne Bay. They soon discovered they had one thing in common - apart from getting caught that is - a love for raw, primitive heart pounding music. After agreeing to conditions laid down by the parole board, All Torn Up were finally let loose.
They fulfilled their early release obligations by appearing at charity events including 'Sweetwaters 99', and by playing live on all manner of television shows-showin' there is hope fer delinquents!
In fact, over the last three years, All Torn Up has appeared in every lowdown honky-tonk and juke joint in Auckland City, winning over the desperate, the lonely and the depraved. Easter 2001 saw the band shoot over to the Mainland- Australia that is, as part of a prisoner exchange scheme and play to new audiences in Melbourne
They're a band that revel in playing live, and it's amazing to see them putting a smile on the saddest face and helping folks to forget about their sorry wasted life, at least for a couple of hours.
