Alpha Shift is a four-piece band based in the Hutt Valley just north of Wellington. They are the result of a fusion of many different influences which is evident through their unique sound. Their influences span many genres from Metal to Indie, Pop Rock to Alternative, Progressive to a touch of Folk, all of which defines the end result.
The band has existed in one form or another since 2006 and has fit right in with the vibrant Wellington scene. With a loyal fan base that is always growing, the lads have been able to experiment with their sound and are humbled by their reception from music lovers throughout the North Island.
Alpha Shift have played in various towns in the north such as Hamilton, Palmerston North and New Plymouth. They have shared the stage with great bands including Chuganaut and Day3, both very inspirational Hamilton bands, as well as Wellington's Autozamm. Other awesome talented groups from around the country as well as Australia's Nine Iron have featured in previous line-ups, all with unique sounds; the music industry is in good shape, a lot of talent to choose from out there.
2010 has had its ups and downs for the lads. Early in the year the group decided to take a break from playing live, instead focusing on their album while slamming the covers to cover costs. It’s been a real shift in gear for the band that draws its raw energy from the live atmosphere, but they have become more focused for it.
After playing with Australasia's finest in Sydney the band went on hiatus.
