Bio

Having met while studying performance jazz at Christchurch's Jazz School Luke Belcher and Seth Reid have always had a musical connection. Their shared love of jazz and many other contemporary artists meant that they have both the skill and passion to come together and create something professional, polished and entertaining. However the two did not perform much in public together until late 2012 at around the same time that they recruited drummer Michael Thompson and formed the professional cover group Melodic Passenger.

The group began as an intimate duo but evolved into a full band that makes use of a variety of sounds including the acoustic and electric guitars as well as showcasing Luke's double bass and electric bass skills. The two worked tirelessly on their harmonies and arrangements of new and classic popular songs and with the driving force of Michael’s drums their Melodic Passenger is released.

With songs ranging from artists such as Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Katy Perry, Credence Clearwater, Tom Petty and much more the duo has songs to cater to any age group. As jazz musicians the duo engages in extended instrumental improvisation and can perform a variety of jazz classics to break up their vocal pieces. Whether it is a hot summer’s afternoon at an outdoor event or a cosy winter evening in your local bar Melodic Passenger puts on a great show and is an undeniably professional complement to any event and is worth watching.
