Velez are about to make huge waves on the music scene. With a songwriting maturity that belies their years (all 17-18 years old), this five-piece from West Auckland have already set ears burning with their appearances at various band battles and small venues.
Andrew Featherstone (Battle of the Bands, Intergalactic Records, 8 Foot Sativa management) says "Velez were one of the most promising bands in the last two years who performed in the New Zealand Battle of the Bands. They have a unique style and impressive song writing skills, as well as being accomplished musicians - they should go far!"
Karen Q Temple is equally complimentary: "Velez are easily one of the most talented and professional young bands I have seen in the last eight years and 25,000 performances at the Temple. They have a maturity of songwriting, musicianship and arrangements which is rare, even amongst bands much older and more experienced."
Barely out of Avondale College where the quintet formed in early 2002, Velez are about to launch their musical career with their debut single 'Without You'. Three and a half minutes of alt-pop brilliance which is sure to be a b-net and Channel Z favourite!
Band Members:
Hayden Booth (vocals, guitar)
Lisa Crawley (vocals, keyboard)
David Hodkinson (bass)
Alistair Deverick (drums)
Matthew Moncur (guitar)

RE: Hello from Z.A Posted: Sun Feb 8, 2004 6:17 am Yeh that was us at G.E (two of us anyway). We kept the name Z Amigos when the band started up. Our gig went great, we managed to fill the debut tent up (I thought nobody was coming because we were on the last day). I missed you guys sorry. I lied, I forgot to look out for ya. How'd yours go? |

Hello from Z.A Posted: Mon Dec 8, 2003 6:33 pm Hey another N.Z band playing at Parachute. I saw your name above ours (Z Amigos) in the Parachute gig thing on this site. We'll be looking out for ya! Which stage are you playing on? We'll be on Debut Stage, we've only been together as a band for less than a year, you see. |
