Indicator Dogs

Bio

Indicator Dogs – Fresh, Groundbreaking, Heavy ROCK!

"It is not often that you come across music that is impossible to reference – bands usually sound like someone else. But Auckland's Indicator Dogs are a breed of their own. Known for their blistering live performances and definition bending musicianship, this will be one album for people thinking – and listening outside the square." - NZ On Air.

The Indicator Dogs are an eclectic bunch. Germany, America and West Auckland come together to form a diverse, but intense musical quartet. This unlikely partnership delivers hard, heavy sounds with lashings of dark beauty, which are meticulously crafted into 12 songs on their debut album, Anschluss.

Produced by NZ's legendary Malcolm Welsford (Pacifier, The Feelers, Supergroove, Tadpole & Stellar*), Anschluss is a stunningly original debut, which "contains musical brilliance, depth and complexity." - Richard Thorne – NZ Musician.

Four tracks of this album have been featured on four NZ On Air Indie Hit Discs and the first release for Antenna/EMI, Zookeeper, sold out of its first pressing with little promotion.

Band Members:
Aaron Rossi

I first saw Indicator Dogs at the Powerstation I think in October 1999? I've been following them for a number of years... keeping a record of them from their appearance on Juice Tv, Space, their songs on the radio etc. When I first bought the album, I didn't stop listening to it. And I'm still listening to it now.

I second what stephenm01 said.

I first saw Indicator Dogs at Papa Jacks in support of Chc crew "Cripple Mr Onion". On the night Indicator dogs came out as sounding better than CMO. They were tight and energised I downloaded the sample trax from the website as soon as I got home!!! I've been waiting for this album a long time. It's as good as I expected, buy it!!

Anschluss Now @ Smoke CDs
Posted: Thu Jun 12, 2003 2:03 pm
New Zealand metal/rock outfit Indicator Dogs deliver their full-length debut album 'Anschluss' on Smoke CDs this week. An eclectic bunch, Germany, America and West Auckland come together to form a diverse, but intense musical quartet.

Produced by NZ's legendary Malcolm Welsford (Pacifier, Supergroove, Zed and The Feelers), 'Anschluss' is a stunningly original debut which easily lives up to the reputation gained via their blistering live performances. If you're into the likes of Pacifier (Shihad), or digging Metallica's current return to form you should check these guys out.

Information taken from Bassdog:

Described by NZ On Air as "an album for people who think and listen outside the square", and by Richard Thorne (Editor, New Zealand Musician) as "containing musical brillance, depth and complexity".

Don't buy this album if you are a sheep.

Produced by New Zealand's legendary Malcolm Welsford, 'Anschluss' is a stunningly original debut by this eclectic bunch. Germany, America and West Auckland come together to form a diverse, but intense musical quartet. This unlikely partnership delivers hard, heavy sounds with lashings of dark beauty, which are meticulously crafted into 12 songs on their debut album.

Indicator Dogs debut album is now available at all good record stores through EMI NZ. Why not buy one for yourself and a set of 6 for your mum, as they also make excellent drink coasters!

The Indicator Dogs will be performing in Dunedin on June 6, and the Dux de Lux on June 7. For more information regarding these, and many more gigs, please refer to the muzic.net.nz gig guide.

Indicator Dogs - Anschluss

I bought the album the other day, the first day it was in stores and I haven't taken it out of my discman since (except for when it was played in various stereos to friends who were all extremely impressed).

The album features personal favourites of mine, 'Obesity', 'Dial In', 'Contained Within A Box','No Response', and 'Broken'.

For those of you who haven't heard the band before... well, they're heavy yet not your average commercial metal bands. If you're one of those people who nod your heads to the music, the album will be more enjoyable for you if you can nod your head to time signatures other than 4/4. In other words, if you're in to bands for their music rather than because you heard them on the radio and thought the song was catchy, buy this album!!!!

Thanks to Local Output for the following information:

Local Output's favourite band, Indicator Dogs have updated their website with videos, audio and more!

I suggest you go there and download their MP3s. You'll have to listen to them all to make it worth while.
