Cassette

Bio

Cassette are Tom Watson (Head Like A Hole, Baconfoot) and Craig Terris (Hell Is Other People, Baconfoot). They play a blend of country/folk/soft/hard/moderate/spritural mantra Rock! Generally though, it's just a laid back accoustic sorta groove that is the glue that holds the Cassette sound.

Their debut album, Cut For Summer, was released in New Zealand on July 6th, 2006 and is the long awaited follow up to the EP titled Emo in New Zealand (2001) and Nothing To Do in Australia (2003).

Formerly a trans-Tasman band, Watson and Terris are now firmly back in Wellington and have been hitting the road regularly, with tours alongside Bachelorette and Ned Collette, The Phoenix Foundation and Lawrence Arabia.

The band released the Cancer EP in 2008 and The Jingle King album in 2009.

As a live band Cassette like to have a bit of a laugh and play music, and sometimes we like to go right out there. But mainly we play our songs 'cause that's what we're all about!

Band Members:
Craig Terris (vocals, guitar)
Tom Watson (drums)
Andrew Bain (bass)
Luke Buda (keyboards, vocals)

Hot on the heels of the Australian release of Cassette's second single 'Don't Let Anyone Get You Started', Cassette play two shows next week in Melbourne:

Thursday 12 June - The Evelyn (supporting Little Birdie from Western Australia)
Sunday 15 June - The First Floor on Brunswick Street (Fitzroy semi-acoustic set)

Australian opinions on Cassette:

"Some of the most effortlessly beautiful guitar pop music you'll ever hear." - Inpress Magazine

"Laid back rootsy twang with an unmistakable indie-rock flavour." - Rolling Stone Magazine

"The songs and the performances are without exception, outstanding. Excellent (like really really good)." - Revolver Magazine

Posted: Fri Mar 21, 2003 6:50 pm
Cassette, the Wellington lads who are now doing their thing in Melbourne, have scored an 'agreement' with Infidelity Records which will see their debut EP "Emo" renamed to "Nothing To Do" and released for the Australian market on March 3rd.

The first single, also called "Nothing To Do", went to radio on February 10th, and you can help it get some airtime in Australia by voting for it on Triple J.
