Christchurch based hip-hop artist And$um emerges with his debut album And$um Volume 1. At 16 tracks long, the project is an impressive array of rap, hip-hop and R&B and features the likes of Dharmarat, Candice Milner, Laura Lee Lovely and Hxrman as well as production from Dera Meelan.
Raised in the sleepy port town of Lyttelton, And$um has been steadily growing as a steadfast figure in the New Zealand alternative scene.
The album comes off an impressive run of form for the Christchurch MC, whose previous singles have been featured in Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’, ‘Beats & Bars’, ‘The Drip’, ‘+64 Flow as well as Apple Music’s ‘New Music Friday’ and ‘The New New Zealand’.
And$um Volume 1 seeks to cement the 23-year-old as one of Christchurch’s, and New Zealand’s, premier hip-hop talents.
With a slew of singles released already across 2020, And$um explains the album represents a closing of a chapter and the opening of a new one. “For me, the album encapsulates everything I’ve been going through since I put my first song out on Soundcloud a few years ago. The album is about my musical journey, getting a grip on my mental health and all the other ups, downs and experiences I’ve had in my life since I started making music.
And$um Volume 1 will be released on Friday, June 26th Via DRM NZ on all major streaming platforms.
