Auckland multi-instrumentalist and producer K M T P announces his forthcoming six-track EP P.S. C U Soon set for release on 14 August. K M T P also shares new track Acting Out, with an accompanying music video directed by Karin Yamasaki (Carb on Carb, Polyester).
K M T P is the new solo project from Keria Paterson, best known as drummer for Polyester and Dirty Pixels, and for his bedroom pop solo project b-lush. He decided to release music as K M T P in mid-2019 after writing I Love My Friends. the delightful song that was so different to his b-lush releases became the first single from P.S. C U Soon.
“Acting Out is about breaking out from a bad situation. It's all about accepting that circumstances can't always be changed for the better, and often it drives you to the point of insanity. Acting Out is about taking these feelings and just losing all control; going absolutely shit crazy,” Paterson said.
“The video is a visual portrayal of me "acting out". Being a solo musician, it's often hard to visualise a band when you're writing and performing all of the instruments in the recording process. I wanted to have puppets perform with me as it often feels vacant when you're writing songs as a solo musician, plus the obscenity of puppets in this song adds to the chaotic nature of the track Acting Out.
Acting Out is available today on streaming services,
with K M T P's first EP P.S. C U Soon out on 14 August
via DRM.
