Amamelia is the musical project of Amelia Berry, a musician and songwriter currently based in Tamaki Makaurau.

Today she shares her debut album Wow! (via Sunreturn) following the release of three sizzling singles So Good, Sad and Lonely feat. Junny, and Hot Bitch Dot Zip feat. Baby Zionov and BB Gurl.

While ruminating on the release Amamelia says "Wow! is the result of my last three years making electronic music. Producing dance music can be a really strange experience, a long, detailed, and often solitary process, creating sounds that, at their best, should bring people together. I am indebted to the friends whose encouragement, support and advice helped turn a bunch of poorly labelled Ableton files into an album of music - particularly Jessica Dew, Reuben Winter, Madison van Staden, and Zac Arnold, and of course my collaborators Aaliyah Zionov, Jennifer-Rose Tamati, and Che Ebrahim."

"While the music on Wow! isn’t united by any one genre or sound, for me it’s tied together by an exploration of digital degradation, of the creation of soft and organic sonic moments through digital stretching, resampling, distortion, and synthesis."

Amamelia's music will get you out of your seat and ready for the dance floor, combining breaks normally found in Jungle & Drum & Bass with a sugary synthetic take on pop music.

Outside of Amamelia, Amelia can be found creating ambient soundscapes in caves as Old Chips, playing in queerbo pop-punk band Babyteeth and performing as one half of synth pop duo Fimo. In the past she's been the mastermind behind the romantic jangle of Polyester (fka as Kip McGrath), and one third of queer DJ trio PWB. She is currently host of 95bFM's illustrious chart show, the 95bFM Top 10.
