Returning from a short COVID-induced hiatus, Krispy & The Pooch are back with their latest EP Drop The Needle. After a hot and steamy fling with the funk, disco and electronica scenes the boys have gone back to their first love - taking the classic hip-hop sound of the 90s and flipping it on its head in a way only Krispy & The Pooch can.
Featuring prominent vocalists J.Lamotta (currently #4 in the Japanese R&B charts) and Zoe Angelina (of Sachi’s breakthrough hit, No More) along side Berlin-based pianist/producer Matt Paull, Drop The Needle features some of the best and brightest that New Zealand and Berlin has to offer.
’We’ve always had a soft spot for old school hip-hop as we both grew up on it, so it seemed only natural to take that sound and sprinkle on a bit of Krispy & The Pooch flavouring. With this EP we wanted to make something high energy and modern that still paid homage to the hip-hop of the 90's and we think we’ve done that and then some’’
The EP is produced, recorded, arranged and mixed by Krispy (Kriston Batistic) & The Pooch (Simon Townsend) and mastered by the legendary Kog Studios. Drop The Needle will be released on all major streaming platforms October 23rd.
