Coming off a huge summer at New Zealand’s biggest festivals, five-piece funkadelic indie-rock band The Butlers are kicking off 2021 in style, releasing new single One Flew to the world on February 2 via Meow. Based off Ken Kesey’s globally recognised and beloved novel 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest', the song is accompanied by an equally crazy video directed by Matt De Vries – check it out below…
One Flew takes you on a transcendent journey, filled with delicious guitar and saxophone solos, pulsating keys, thunderous rhythm and The Butlers trademark silky vocals, this time shared by three members of the band - Walt Robberds, George Berry and Jordan Kennedy. Recorded at renowned studio The Sitting Room, Lyttleton, Christchurch, the single was mixed and mastered by Will McGillvray.
The Butlers have achieved some huge feats since forming a few years back, establishing themselves as a well-recognised and crucial band to the Kiwi music scene with a loyal and fanatical fanbase. Their debut self-titled album cracked the top-20 in the NZ charts in 2019, which followed on from two acclaimed EP’s, Fredrieks Friends and Halfway House (both released in 2017), and they’ve since clocked well over three million streams on Spotify. In turn, they’ve absolutely cracked the touring and festival circuit – their New Zealand national tours keep completely selling out, they’ve toured Australia twice, scored national tour supports with The Teskey Brothers and Sticky Fingers, and have delivered unforgettable performances at prestigious festivals including Rhythm & Vines, Electric Avenue, Rhythm & Alps and Bay Dreams.
