Colourful creative Elleio is set to release her debut pop-focused single Upbeat next Friday, the 5th of February. Newly Auckland based, Elleio has big ambitions for her music for the year ahead with her first ever EP releasing later this year titled The Diary of a Fruit Loop.
Growing up between her French and Kiwi/Tongan families, Elleio was raised within widely contrasting scenery and has many stories of her past to tell within her music. With a passion for not only music, but film and visual art, Elleio places great importance on her imagery, collaborating with artist Chelsea Ostler on all artwork and photoshoots as well as self directing/editing her video work such as her cover of The Seed by Aurora which can be found on YouTube. A lover of singing, lyrics are incredibly important to Elleio and you can expect to find hidden meanings within each of her songs, carefully intertwined in her metaphors and catchy hooks.
Elleio takes us through each corner of her mind within the 4 tracks in The Diary of a Fruit Loop. Using inspiration from her favourite artists such as fellow Kiwi Lorde, Australian Julia Jacklin and Belgium sensation Stromae, Elleio’s musicianship encompasses a mix of influences from other musicians as well as the product of growing up in a multicultural family. Whether it’s the more gentle, romance driven Leo played on a softly strung ukulele, or the more energetic, electro pop inspired Upbeat, Elleio shows us that this debut EP really is just the beginning.
Due to her French roots, Elleio was compelled to create a copy of the EP entirely in French after exploring the linguistic diversity within French popular music. The French version will be released after the EP’s initial release, allowing listeners to choose which language to hear the songs in.
With collaborations from talented Wellington musicians Keith Aaron, Alex Hoare, Rupert McCrae, Robbie Pattinson, mixing by Alex Maggs (https://www.alexmaggsstudios.co/) and distribution through DRM, Elleio has already set her sights on her future releases following this debut EP.
