Post Punk Band Adult Friends Release Debut Single

10 December 2021 - 0 Comments

Inspired by Pixies, Ryan Gosling is Adult Friend’s first release. The song acknowledges celebrity culture and power as fan bases form a para-social relation with superstars like Ryan Gosling. It has even become a running joke within the band that lead singer Jackson Kidd has fallen in love with Gosling after watching the movie Drive.

When asked to reflect on the creation of the song, Jackson said: “Gosling is a fun song. A Lot of the time we like to be dark and brooding, so this song serves as a reminder to us to lighten up a bit. I wrote the chords at home on a crappy nylon string guitar and brought it into practice the next day. Everyone just dived into the song headfirst. We hadn’t all been on the same page like that in awhile. After the second chorus, Daniel started freaking out on the guitar and that became the solo. From there, we knew how it was meant to end. It’s really our zanny, noisey little child.”
