Band & Musician News - How Get release EP 'Te Waea Moana'

How Get release EP 'Te Waea Moana'

10 December 2021 - 0 Comments

Tāmaki Makaurau trio How Get are stoked to be releasing their EP Te Waea Moana today.

How Get is two parts Long Distance Runner, one part Carb on Carb. After releasing two EPs, Very Strong (2016) and This Isthmus (2017), as well as touring Aotearoa and Australia, the band went quiet. This break has not been without fruit, and the band are happy to be back with Te Waea Moana. While touring plans for this year were scuttled, the band look to celebrate in person in the new year.

This new collection Te Waea Moana (the ocean cable) brings a similar intensity, but with a difference - all of the lyrics are in Te Reo Māori. Opener Te Tai Timu (low tide) starts with a barrage before settling into a repetitive groove. E pao, Tōrea (Strike, oystercatcher!) loosely translates to seize the day and the song follows a corresponding repetition/release pattern. Closer and single Te Tai Pari (high tide) reflects on friendship and ends the EP on a high.

Te Waea Moana is available now from usual outlets.
