Award-winning, alt-country Aotearoa artist, Jenny Mitchell has released an acoustic video for the powerful single Trouble Finds A Girl, a track co-written and recorded with the esteemed Tami Neilson.
The raw, one-take styled video showcases Jenny’s breathtaking live performance skill, as she lets her vocals soar in Dunedin’s Athenaeum Theatre. The acoustic take on the stirring single also features Jenny’s little sisters Maegan and Nicola Mitchell; the people whom Jenny had in mind when co-writing the single with Tami Neilson.
“I wanted to capture a stripped back version of this song, featuring the voices of the girls that inspired the song in the first place.”
The stunning video was put together by Jenny’s go-to creative team, made up of Wade McClelland (Made by Wade), Bradon McCaughey (Dynamic Motion) and Dave Craig (DC Live).
Trouble Finds A Girl was inspired by Neilson and Mitchell’s personal experiences working in the industry and the work carried out by award-winning Stuff journalist Alison Mau who investigated #metoo claims within the New Zealand music industry. Written with their younger selves, Jenny’s sisters, and the world in mind, Jenny and Tami hope the single will help advocate for change.
“It’s for my little sisters’, says Jenny, ‘who I hope to be able to guide and educate as they make their way through the music industry.”
