Packed with ear candy synths, a captivating groove and slick pop vocals, the track swells into cinematic choruses expressing the chaos of emotion felt in some relationships. It’s a rollercoaster, and the best kind; as Vince. Jr sonically and lyrically captures the relatable heavy rush felt at the beginning of a new connection with someone.
“This song was written, portraying the contradicting feelings I felt whilst first falling in love, and the frustration that came with opening my heart to somebody that was keeping us behind closed doors and not ready to openly love me,” explains Vince. Jr.
“This song is a cry for acceptance within the relationship, but also conveying that being hidden would hurt less than losing one another.”
The single was co-written with Josh Naley (Wells*), who also produced the track. Together, the two artists were able to capture a unique kind of honesty for Vince. Jr, who describes the process of songwriting as a “little like self-therapy”.
“Majority of the time, the process of making these tracks is what concludes my understanding of each situation,” says Vince. Jr.
“I like to think my music will continuously stay as transparent to what I'm dealing with in each period of time. I love the idea of being able to look back at these songs like polaroids, in order to capture my exact experience and process of each moment I had and how I dealt with it emotionally.”
Auckland artist Vince. Jr, rose to the scene by finding “self help” in using music as a tool of therapy. The singer’s music divulges into the outlook of growing up as a queer kid, and the repercussions it has on his relationship with himself and finding love.
Today’s release Home Run, follows the release of his recent single When It’s Over, showcasing Vince. Jr’s consistent pop-sensibilities and demonstrating why this is an artist to keep an eye on.
