After the successful release of his debut single Nick Burson and his band are back at it again with the release of I Can’t Believe It’s Come To This, out today!
With the second single from Nick Burson Band, Nick explores the idea of a relationship slowly drifting apart. The words “I can’t believe it’s come to this,” falling out of his mouth echo the idea that in the moment you can never see the breaking point but in ‘Hindsight’ it’s so clear.
Despite the darker lyrical tone the song clips along with an infectious beat, classic guitar hook and a melody that will be sure to get stuck in your head.
Nick has spent the majority of life focused on music. Growing up in Nelson he moved to Christchurch to study music at ARA Jazz school. Completing a Bachelor Of Musical Art and finishing his first album as part of his studies. Almost as soon as he finished Nick fell into playing covers for a living. Playing with the renowned Christchurch weddings band Ctrl Alt Rock. The process of playing consistently refined his style to no end but also left very little time to pursue his original music. Skip forward 11 years, Covid-19 caused all live music to slow to a halt. This was the perfect opportunity to get back into writing music.
Inspired by life, his new album is a dramatised expression of living with a young family, dealing with stress, and having barely slept the night before. You can still hear Nick’s influences from Tom Petty, Rob Thomas through to Ariel Posen, Ryan Adams, Hendrix, John Mayor, and Everclear. Nick’s Lyrical voice is more refined than ever before, dancing between telling you exactly what he means, to unlaying subtle metaphors that leave you thinking about a bigger topic all together.
