Listen to Not OK HERE
Renée Millner makes music that cuts straight to the heart with her emotive storytelling, enchanting vocal delivery and lush production - and Not OK is no different. One for a relaxing road trip on a sunny day, this song’s piano, guitar, and vocal layers are both catchy and meditative.
“Not OK is about not taking yourself or life too seriously,” says Renée. “Part of the inspiration came from focusing on what really matters - the loved ones in your life. It’s also a reminder that you never really know what others are going through, so to move through the world with awareness and kindness.”
Recorded with Sam Johnson of Rhythm Ace Studios and mastered by Chris Chetland, Not OK is the follow-up single to others from Renée’s upcoming EP - Out Their Windows, Fly Me Back and "stirring soul-folk anthem of resilience" (Under the Radar) So Much.
“The feel and vibe has changed somewhat. There are more layers in the music, but it still has those core elements of an acoustic guitar and piano. This song is a bit of a step down energetically from So Much, but I feel it shares the same uplifting vibe. I loved putting this single together. I hope you enjoy it,” says Renée.
Like those before it, this stand-out single is drawing listeners even further into the anticipated release of Renée’s EP Fly Me Back, coming out on October 28, followed by a string of very special shows.
