Australian-based Kiwi rappers Morse Gang (Remorse (Te Āti Hau Nui A Pāpārangi) & Entyce (Ngāpuhi)) have today released their new upbeat single Datsus along with a fun new video that sees the pair become superheroes.
Bringing the message of being unique and representing your own sound in a music industry that follows trends, Morse Gang definitely stands out from the crowd with Datsus - a catchy, rhythmically on-point hip-hop track that hooks from the moment the keys start playing - then reels you in through a wealth of skilled rapping. Remorse & Entyce are two rappers who know their craft.
“We weren’t too sure if we were even going to release this song,” says Remorse. “Entyce had it sitting on his laptop for a couple of months with just the first verse and chorus recorded. He emailed it to me, and that’s when I recorded my verse, and the rest is history.”
The Datsus video will hook you as much as the song does. Filmed in Perth by a local videographer Lahai Creative, with the support of NZOA funding, it tells the story of two superheroes saving the streets from crime.
“This was our first ever video shoot where we dressed up in costume and had to act,” says Remorse. “Entyce flew over from Brisbane, and we shot it in 2 days due to the tight covid-19 restrictions in Perth at the time. It was summer and around 35-38 degrees, so there were a lot of water breaks.” Also featured in the video are Remorse’s two young sons and Entyce’s two younger cousins. “It was fun to have family members involved.”
Datsus is out now and be sure to check out the video and follow Morse Gang!
