Blindspott have today released their new emotionally raw single Pretty Violent off their second instalment to their forthcoming album, Volumes.

As the song’s name suggests, it opens heavily depicting the emotional turmoil that the song is about but delicate where it needs to be, depicting the vulnerability and connection in the song.
“The narrative of the track is about toxic love and the moments and emotions that go with that.. the opening of the song is violent and emotive which depicts the start of a visceral connection,” says Damian Alexander, the band’s frontman.
“As the song progresses, it transcends the toxic states of a poisonous relationship.. the self doubt in the pre chorus.. the violent journey of resolution in the chorus and the release of it all in the post chorus.”
“The bridge is the moment you’re on your knees and will take or do anything to go back to the start.. but it soon becomes apparent you’re just back in the cycle.. It’s toxic.. it’s over.”
Each member of the band had a hand in writing Pretty Violent with the band’s drummer, Shelton Woolwright and guitarist Brandon Reihana putting in a lot of the work to make it what it is today.
“Shelton’s production ear and attention to detail is scary and Brandon’s raw talent is like nothing we have ever seen,” says Damian.
Pretty Violent hails the start of the next instalment of their four-part album, Volumes. Each volume unique in tone and sound but still showing off the familiar Blindspott sound that fans know and love.
“We wanted people to come on the journey with us and I think it’s the most authentic way to let people close to our process,” says Damian.
