Your Name is 15-year-old Lucy Gray's debut single that drops on the 28th of October 2022, at midnight. Your Name is now available on all major platforms including Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Tidal and Deezer.
The Christchurch based singer-songwriter teamed up with producing duo Andy Knopp and Vic Knopp from The Response to create her first release. Lucy was accepted to a music incubators programme through the Christchurch City Council, which funded this song. Your Name is an electric feeling pop song with a melancholy undercurrent that feels nostalgic. Inspired from a young age to pursue music, and inspired by artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, Peach PRC, and Taylor Swift, she takes her first step into the digital music scene with her first ever single Your Name. Your Name is soon to be followed by an EP in 2023 funded by Air New Zealand, as she continues to work with Producer duo The Response.
Lucy Gray is a performer, singer and songwriter from Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand. She is currently studying at Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery. Her writing is inspired by alternative pop, pop, alternative rock & indie styles, with Lucy finding a personal harmony in the less orthodox melodic & conceptual tropes usually associated with these genres. Her music is inspired by rock, pop, indie, country and alternative styles so the themes are varied and she writes many different genres.
Lucy has also been a radical activist, protesting for change with the Christchurch organisation School Strike for Climate. At 12 years old she wrote a song about climate action and how we need to join together for action. She went on to play this song at the strikes, at National Young Leaders Day in 2019, at Festival for the Future in 2019 and on Radio with RNZ. Furthermore in August of this year she played at the Festival for Future 2022 with a new anthem for change, that she hopes to release in coming years.
