Young Nelson up-and-comer Reece Milton has today released his impressive new album Elixir.
Drawing you into each track is a mixture of indie, soft-rock, pop and a splash of jazz. Reece is an accomplished guitarist and talented songwriter with strong vocals. The eleven-track album features debut single Once in a Lifetime (2019), Atmosphere, Take My Hand (2020), Take It Easy (2022) and the recently released Ms Mona Lisa. It also includes new single Runaway Girl - an edgy, driving guitar-based rock track. “The theme of the song is that it’s ok to be yourself and not to worry what others think of you,” says Reece.
“The journey of starting my career and making my debut album has been amazing. It's so exciting to have it released, and I hope people enjoy it and even connect with it. It's taken a while, but I think it's definitely been worth the wait. I'm n looking forward to touring the album and getting back into the studio to work on a lot more music.”
Recorded at StudioBox in Nelson, mixed/mastered by Clint Murphy at CJM Productions and mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound in Nashville. This is an exciting album that has cut no corners. It is a collection of well-written and well-produced songs set to hook listeners and make fans.
Born in Wellington and raised in Nelson, Reece Milton developed his passion and skill for music at high school. In 2018 his band won regional heats at Smokefree Rockquest, and then Reece went on to win a competition to have his song Once In A Lifetime recorded at StudioBox and produced by legendary welsh producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Melanie C). This experience resulted in him being offered a recording contract with Antipodes Records and a management contract with StudioBox Creative. As well as having played with Paul Ubana Jones, he has opened for Tim Allen and The Two, toured the lower South Island and Wellington with his band and performed at festivals including, The NZ Cider Festival, The Kapiti Music Festival and the campground stage at Bay Dreams in Nelson. Reece performed solo as an opener for Opera in the Park in Nelson and was invited back to Smokefree Rockquest as a guest band.
As well as releasing his debut album, Reece is hitting the road later in 2022-23, touring Australia and NZ with fellow Antipodes Records artist Nathan Foley - so make sure you’re following his socials!
