After a 16 year hiatus, iconic Kiwi band Tadpole’s brand new album of previously unreleased songs from their back catalogue has crashed into the NZ charts!
We thought Tadpole’s story was over when they decided to disband in 2006, but former band members came together to release a brand new album of never-released rarities and antiquities that never made it onto their first three albums. And the superfans are loving it!
“So good to finally be able to revisit your music after so long!” said one fan on the group’s official Facebook page.
“Mine is on its way, can't wait to hear new stuff!” said Toddy Wright, another long-time Tadpole fan.
The idea for the temporary revival came after band members took a trip down memory lane and trawled through their collections of old demos, cassette tapes, and dusty CDs. They found some hidden gems that were played at live shows and recorded as demos, but never made it onto an official album. From that, Remains of the Day was created!
Not only that, they’ve also released The Tadpole Collection; a 4 CD collection of every album they made – The Buddhafinger (2000), The Medusa (2002) and Tadpole (2006), plus Remains of the Day!
The 4 CD box set is available at JB Hi-Fi stores for $34.95 and independent music stores, plus all three studio albums (The Buddhafinger, The Medusa, Tadpole self titled) are now available to stream on Spotify.
