Rising Kiwi surf-psych-reggae favourites SOJØURN have been working away over the winter to deliver a fresh banging track Two Step, perfectly timed for summer!
Following on from the success of their recent EP Mystic Ways, Mangawhai Heads six-piece band SOJØURN re-emerge from the studio with latest offering, the highly danceable reggae-ska jam ‘Two Step’. Featuring an upbeat, skanking groove, playful punching bass, simple vocal melody and catchy hook, ‘Two Step’ sees the band dive back into their reggae roots.

Isaac Hunter (lead vocals/guitar); James Finlay (lead guitar/BV); Adam Blake (drums); Tony Baker (bass); Jacob O’Brien (saxophone); and Elias Giles (keys) are SOJØURN, and with ‘Two Step’ they deliver a contemporary blend of dancefloor pop with reggae-infused soul and ska rhythms.
Recorded and edited by Connor Jaine (Mako Road), Two Step showcases some slick production elements in the track, and the band engaged reggae/dub/ska specialist Paul Jonassen (aka Paul The Kid / Night Gaunts) for the final mixing and production with mastering by Mike Gibson (Munki Studios).
Built for the dancefloor, the track has been well road-tested with a live-to-air performance on 95bFM’s Drive Show, The Black Seeds Powerstation show, Après Surf and most recently at a sold out Galatos and Butter Factory show.
Now SOJØURN look forward to playing a series of summer shows, performing at Leigh Sawmill, co-headlining New Year’s Eve at Astrolabe in Mount Maunganui with Masaya, a headline performance at Festival of Lights in New Plymouth and featuring on an all-star New Zealand line-up at The Wingman Festival on Great Barrier Island.
SOJØURN shine when performing live, with their blitzing surf-psych-reggae vibes generating a good time energy which has earnt them a well-deserved reputation amongst their avid fans on the NZ live scene.
So, pack your dancing shoes and come party with SOJØURN to celebrate the release of ‘Two Step’ next Friday 16th December at Leigh Sawmill. Also performing will be the lads from the coast, BLISS, and Te Henga’s favourite dub/DnB/jungle merchant, Te Manu, for a pre-Christmas party to kick off their upcoming run of summer shows.
