Christchurch chorus-drenched indie pop-rock group Pretty Stooked have announced their wide-reaching debut EP Day Today alongside a nationwide tour with Winegum Records, bringing yet another facet of Ōtautahi’s diverse alternative music scene to the fore. Day Today comes from fruitful sessions at LOHO Studio with Josh Logan and Adam Hogan (Mel Parsons, Pieces of Molly) with a sharpened emotive focus on all-too-human heartbreaks and the discomfort of change faced by frontman Eddie Kiesanowski.
Combining grooving soundscape-like band arrangements alongside Kiesanowski’s deeply vulnerable yet vibrant lyricism, Pretty Stooked tours with a full 5 piece band across Aotearoa late summer promoting Day Today, promising to continue their streak of intense and memorable shows in the South Island. They kick off in mid-February following an appearance at Christchurch's irreverent and ever-popular Nostalgia Festival.
At the heels of significant airplay attention from the likes of Radio Hauraki and RNZ, Pretty Stooked’s debut single My Line received a well-deserved 45,000 streams in 2022, alongside notable singles In My Head and Wanted. You can listen to a live version of My Line here, demonstrating the group’s penchant for driven guitars and simmering band dynamics being exported across the country this summer.
