Band & Musician News - Princess Chelsea announces two special Auckland-area shows

Princess Chelsea announces two special Auckland-area shows

19 January 2023 - 0 Comments

Princess Chelsea extends her Everything is Going To Be Alright album release tour with two additional Auckland area shows: Waiheke's Artworks Theatre, and Auckland's Wine Cellar, a benefit.

Fresh from a lengthy 2022 European tour, which included an exciting stop for a two-day live recording session at the illustrious Abbey Road Studios in London, Chelsea's ūber-talented multi-instrumental band has lived, breathed and performed Princess Chelsea's set for the past eight months. Chelsea's live shows feature some of Auckland's best and brightest young musicians, including Joe Kaptein (Muroki), Jasmine Balmer (Being.), David Harris (Sulfate), Simeon Kavanagh-Vincent (Phoebe Rings, Lucky Boy), and Joshua Worthington-Church (Exploding Rainbow Orchestra).

Those lucky enough to catch her seven-piece band at their Powerstation show in December have been calling it 'the show of the year'. Expect lights, live visuals, and a lot of instruments!

Princess Chelsea is psyched to bring award-winning psych band Na Noise to Waiheke's Artworks Theatre to open the show on Friday 17 February.
Na Noise's debut album Waiting For You won the band the acclaimed Auckland Live Best Independent Debut Award at the Taite Music Prize Awards in 2021; the trio was also named 'Best Alternative Artist' at the 2021 Aotearoa Music Awards.

Princess Chelsea's fundraising show for The Wine Cellar takes place on Thursday February 23rd with support from the electronic awesomeness of Power Nap. Accompanied by her full band, all proceeds go towards supporting the Wine Cellar, a bastion of Auckland's live music scene. Tickets are strictly limited to 100 and will sell out.

Everything is Going to Be Alright is Princess Chelsea's fifth studio album.

"Princess Chelsea is one of our most clever, considered and astute songwriters who knows exactly who she is and how she wants to present herself." - Graham Reid, Elsewhere.co.nz

"The songs on Everything is Going to be Alright are, I think, the best Princess Chelsea has written. They’re her lightest in terms of tone, her darkest lyrically, and her heaviest in terms of production - by which I mean they feature a lot of guitars." - Tony Stamp, Radio New Zealand

"The length and breadth of pop explored on Everything Is Going To Be Alright is impressive...ethereal gems that Kate Bush would have undoubtedly approved of [Princess Chelsea] knows when to lean into confident contemporary pop, pretty baroque flourishes abound almost everywhere else." - Conor Lochrie, Tone Deaf

Since the release of her first album Lil' Golden Book in 2011, Princess Chelsea has been slowly amassing a cult following that is largely international. In a recent article in NZ Musician Gareth Shute wrote, "Princess Chelsea’s music video Cigarette Duet has over 80 million views while on Spotify the song is at 65 million (so more than the two most popular Six60 songs combined)". Chelsea's second album, The Great Cybernetic Depression, was a Taite Prize finalist, and her third album, The Loneliest Girl, spawned the hit I Love My Boyfriend which was recently used by Yves Saint Laurent for their Winter '22 campaign.

Princess Chelsea has also released her new video today for Time.
