Leading the next generation of Kiwi pop music, REID backs up the success of his debut single Savannah with a cover of L.A.B’s Kiwi summer classic, Yes I Do. With the help of a 10-piece live band, REID yet again showcases his vocal prowess in this exciting cover.

REID’s Yes I Do cover is the product of community and collaboration, with individual arrangements coming together to create one synergistic sound. This pop-soul partnership features another impressive vocal performance from REID, elevated by Jacob Gasser’s soulful saxophone and intricate neo-soul guitar licks courtesy of Hunter Davison. Oliver Aikman-Nordon and Narm Lawrence on the violin is a charming constant of the cover which shines through.

The cover additionally features Tessa Hills on the drums, Isaac Ligtenberg on bass, Bonnie Allen on keys, and Emma Haves-Jonathan and Letitia Mackenzie with the backing vocals. Bonnie Allen created the musical arrangement and was the project’s producer.

Yes I Do was mixed and produced by sound engineer Nicole Hardie, with the support of Robbie Pattinson, and mastered by Mike Gibson. The accompanying video was filmed by Caitlin O’Hagan and Ben Addison-Saipe, alongside editor and director Olivia Ikinofo.

REID says, “I have always been a fan of L.A.B, especially Yes I Do as it is so groovy. I wanted to pay homage to them and what they have done for the New Zealand music scene.”

“The best part of this cover was being able to come together and learn from each other, despite us all playing very different music from each other. We were able to have this awesome chemistry because we all shared a similar trait - a passion for creating great music.”

REID’s Yes I Do comes off the back of his debut single Savannah hitting the airwaves. His next single, ‘Wanna Be Someone’, is set for release on Friday 12 May with the official release party at Valhalla on Wednesday 17 May.

REID will next take stage alongside Jacob Gasser’s Corduroy. at Meow, Wednesday 29 March.
