Hooky's second EP for Red Snapper builds on the impressive reception for its predecessor, Voot.
Here, the Kiwi producer/DJ drops a pair of bombs showing two distinct sides of his studio personality.
Something is a smooth-as, sultry vocal groover on a deeper tip that's perfect for the Northern summer. Organic percussion and subtle keys create the perfect canvas for the yearning, heartfelt lyrics.
My Heart kicks things up a gear (or two), with a percussive groove building to a cunningly deployed vocal sample. Precision-tooled dance floor dynamite, It's a little bit disco, a little bit gospel and a whole lot of soul.
