Fall Into Dark grapples with hope and despair. The contrast of absolute despair and light at the end of the tunnel is a powerful one. It can be a feeling of being in the darkest of times, when you feel like all is lost, and yet there is still a glimmer of hope, equally a feeling of knowing that even though things are bad right now, they can get better.

Fall Into Dark is filled with a haunting atmosphere which is balanced with a melodic vocal, driving guitars and pulsating drums. The juxtaposition between light and dark is always a big component of our sound, which is often represented from verse to chorus. We can’t have one without the other. Says The Transits.

Today’s single comes after their recently released smash singles When You Went Away and Renegade Hearts ; the former track reached #19 on the Aotearoa RadioScope Alternative Chart, and also received a 5 star review on Muzic.net.nz. The latter playlisted on radio across New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Both tracks are currently on the South African Top 40.

Ryan Lunn (vocals, guitars, synths), Dom Antelme (vocals, bass) and Tyrone Smith (drums) recorded their parts of the track in their respective studios across Auckland and South Africa, before sending it all to Ryan in Durban, South Africa where he mixed and mastered the track. Fall Into Dark is a track integral to the ever expanding sounds of The Transits.

Sometimes a glimmer of hope can be an intuitive voice deep inside yourself, or it could come from someone who genuinely cares about you. Despair can definitely be self induced and sometimes it’s the ones that love you most that are the only ones that can point that out to you. The line “Break through the lies again, live in the light again” sums this one up perfectly.

The trio have been making music together on and off since forming their first band at 15 years old in Durban, South Africa. “We’ve been close friends for even longer than that,” says Dom, “it’s like family.” They would practice before, after and even during school, finding inspiration in guitar-heavy pop outfits like Weezer and The Pixies.

Since that first band, each member has gone on to experience careers that have included label signings, live, chart, radio and award success. The decision to get the band back together came about during the pandemic, when they started to write and record together, regardless of being in different countries. The band says the timing feels serendipitous, with bands such as Blink-182 announcing the reunion of their original lineup and a resurgence of the vintage pop-punk sound.

This is just the beginning for this epic reunion of musicians, who say “we feel like we’ve found our sound and are currently writing and recording for our debut full length album out later this year. That said, we always have a few musical surprises up our sleeve.”
