Avya Releases 'Teach Me To Dance'

29 September 2023 - 0 Comments

Avya's newest release, Teach Me To Dance, is a fresh sound for the 23-year-old singer- songwriter from Mangawhai.

A pop anthem to its core, Teach Me To Dance, is reminiscent of a past era. With arpeggiated chords, synthesizers and an infectious beat - the production leans into that of an 80's dance track, recreated in 2023.

Conceptually, Teach Me To Dance represents an internal battle with oneself. Avya addresses feelings of inadequacy from the get-go with confrontational lyrics such as the opening line, "You talk too much, but you don't speak up when it matters".

As the song progresses, Avya concludes that she must learn to live with and navigate these insecurities. Rather than try to erase her fears, she must learn to live with them.

To learn to dance with them, if you will.
