Tauranga based indie-rock band, Marmalade Skies, share their latest single Nightmare from their upcoming debut album When I Wake Up set to release early 2024.
Waking up unsettled and confused, we’ve all been there. Bouncy pop rock banger, Nightmare, captures the relatable frustration of a peaceful sleep interrupted by scary dreams. Singer, Ethan Perkins, retells some of his own experiences with the psychological phenomenon before expressing his desire to “...wake up and feel alright…”. Mastered by Felix Davis (Lana Del Rey, Sickick, Far Caspian) this angsty summer tune will put a light hearted spin on your deepest fears.
Perkins Explains, “When I was a kid, I was very timid. I used to have recurring nightmares that would keep me up all night. They were very vivid and felt like they were real. It got to the point where I didn’t want to close my eyes because I knew scary thoughts and images would creep in. This lasted for many years until I finally grew out of it. I realised that what you give power, has power over you. I still have nightmares to this day but I don’t allow them to get to me like I did when I was a kid. Every time I play the song it is a reminder to myself that I don’t have to face those night terrors anymore.”
