Today, Kiwi pop artist Frankie Venter releases her first track of the new year - Leyla. Her distinctively captivating vocals drive a pop-rock track with visceral emotion and charisma. Merging moments, Venter drew from various stories and experiences to write this latest single.

“I wrote it straight after coming home from a night out where I had a conversation with this really cocky guy who at one point spat on the ground and said: “Do you like it?”. I mushed it with another experience I had with a guy who wouldn’t stop talking about a girl called ‘Leyla’.”

Taking the song to producer Rory Noble, they continued the story and imagined its dynamic chorus - adding further plot intrigue. “The idea that you can still like this person even though you know they’re cocky, full of it, and playing you.”

The woven narrative is cathartic and catchy - surely a song to be screamed at the top of everyone’s lungs.

After a successful 2023, 17-year-old Frankie Venter is all set to take this new year by storm.

After signing with Five AM at the beginning of last year, her single Move With It catapulted her into the music scene. With an overwhelmingly positive public response - 100k+ views on TikTok and immediate radio playlisting - Venter quickly established herself as one to watch.
