GEORGE AND QUEEN RELEASE NEW ALBUM TEENAGERS AND GROWNUPS ON APRIL 19TH.
Auckland-based band George and Queen will release their third album Teenagers and Grownups on Monday April 19th.
The album is released through Gone Quiet Records and features the singles ‘Hut 234’ and ‘Not Dying Man’ which have featured recently across alternative radio.
George and Queen are Neil Newton, Immi Paterson, Rich Pharaoh, and Pandu Samarasinghe. Neil and Immi met at Otago University in 2001, and played in numerous bands together. They moved to Auckland in 2004 and formed George and Queen.
Their first album City, recorded at home as a duo and released on their own label Gone Quiet Records, came out in 2007. The single ‘Didn’t Mean It That Way’, which featured on the album, went to #1 on Kiwi FM.
For The Wind is Up, George and Queen’s second album, Neil and Immi were joined by drummer Rich and bassist Pandu. It was recorded at Venn Studios with Dave Holmes and mastered by Steve Hall, Future Disc in 2008. The single ‘Lemonade’ was a successful alt radio track, and went to #1 on 95bFM. This success gained them a spot in the 2009 Big Day Out.
In celebration of the release of Teenagers and Grownups George and Queen will be playing a one-off show at Whammy Bar in Auckland on the 17th of April.

“Honed through countless sets at Auckland’s St Kevin’s arcade, George and Queen’s stuff is good, often bordering on great”. Dan Trevarthen, Real Groove
“Their Music has folk influences but the jangly guitars of Dunedin bands surface on most tracks. They sound like an unlikely cross between The Magick Heads and the Clean”. Warren Brown, Waikato Times
