Yours Forever by Bad Schematics Feat. Ben Dark is a highly polished and masterfully executed track; a hybrid blend of alt-pop/punk/rock track from the Papaioea-based band, who have been busy making waves since the release of their debut EP keep your gods in 2023. The single also features guest vocals from Ben Dark, vocalist for Mirrored Walls.
Dropping hot on the heels of a number of electrifying shows across the North Island over the last few months, Yours Forever by Bad Schematics Feat. Ben Dark is a highly polished and masterfully executed track; a hybrid blend of alt-pop/punk/rock track from the Papaioea-based band is the first single from Bad Schematics’ forthcoming debut LP C O L L I D E, scheduled for release in late April. Behind the scenes, the single was produced by Nigel Mauchline at The Stomach in Palmerston North, and mastered by Chris Chetland at Kog Mastering in Auckland.
Drawing musical influences from the likes of All Time Low, Bring Me The Horizon, My Chemical Romance, Dead Favours and Paramore, Bad Schematics features the enigmatic Caleb Hickmott (vocals, synths), Caitlin Sorenson (bass) and Daniel Braithwaite (drums). Both on stage and in the studio Bad Schematics have a musical chemistry that is palpable, creating a sound exploding with energy and passion.
Originally written as a love song for Hickmott’s partner, Yours Forever evolved into a very different track than it was originally intended to be. Lyrically and sonically the single is what Hickmott describes as “an emotional break-up song… but not necessarily in a romantic sense. It’s a song about people not being in each other’s spaces anymore, for whatever reason”.
Lyrically, Hickmott is a masterful storyteller, capturing the honesty and rawness of tumultuous human emotions. Along with Sorenson and Braithwaite the band builds melodies and soundscapes brimming with urgency to create an accomplished track. Now ready for the next stage on their musical path, Bad Schematics’ catchy riffs and relatable lyrics make them ones to watch.
With the release of their LP in just a matter of weeks, Yours Forever is the first taste of what is to come from Bad Schematics this year as they embark on the next stage of their musical journey.
