Ny Oh and Finn Johansson, two of Aotearoa/New Zealand’s finest songwriting talents, have released a heartfelt, iconic collaborative single We Still Got It. An Indie Folk anthem that traces the perils of the work-life-balance-stripped artistic youth of today, the track is a harmony-filled, sublimely performed gem that asks: What happens when what we think we need is at odds with our happiness? Accompanied with a live video, a zine and a music video co-directed by Theo Taylor that captures the pair’s beautiful friendship amongst the gently psychedelic vibe of West Auckland’s backyard pools (with perhaps the most nudity in a music video so far this year), the pair set the single free in anticipation of a summer of musical adventure.

We Still Got It is Ny Oh’s latest single since the release of her triumphant EP Live in Aotearoa, a collection of recordings taken from her show opening for Harry Styles in her homestead stadium, and previous acclaimed singles You Are, Be Free and Garden of Eden which saw support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and many more.

Finn Johansson teams up with Ny Oh following the release of What A Way To Make A Living, which was made possible by Finn Johansson’s Nine To Five: a wild crowdfunding operation where Finn pumped out music during live-streamed consecutive 40 hour work weeks. The lead single There Were Things That I Forgot reached number 1 on NZ’s largest B-Net radio station and led to international tours of Europe and Australia.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

On the track, the pair note: “This is the second time we’ve sat down to write together. We snatched the one moment when we were in the same city and wrote this song in 4 hours in the back of Finn’s van. It grew from conversations we had about how we were putting everything into our musical lives, ultimately in an unsustainable way - and our minds and bodies were paying the price”.
