All Sorts of Grey is subtle and raw. The fragility seems loud amongst the soft tones of the song. The lyrics linger between questions of death and something more personal that you can’t quite put your finger on.

All Sorts of Grey has a very different feel to Samantha Josephine's latest recordings, some of which had some very heavy guitar and drums. For example in her track Your Unbelievable Head, a loud rebelliousness is very apparent in the vocals in between heavy drums. Josephine seems unwilling or uncertain to define the song, in her description she says "I guess grey as a colour is a blurriness. But I'm not willing to commit to that as the reason for the word grey. I think the sound and words themselves are the only way I can articulate the sensation of the track for me."

Samantha Josephine is an independent musician based in Christchurch, under Songbroker Music Publishing, who has been releasing albums since 2020. Josephine’s sound is raw and emotional and has been compared to artists such as Lou Reed, Courtney Barnet, Moldy Peaches, Jonathan Richman and Daniel Johnston. In most of her self-produced albums she is accompanied by her drummer Oliver Konow.

Josephine and Konow are set to perform at an international online festival called 24:1900. The idea of the festival is one band from each country for this event and the money will go to charity. They will be performing for New Zealand time zone. The date has not been finalised at this point.
