NZ born, UK-based artist Robinson has released the second single to her forthcoming EP; the cinematic new track Landslide.

Layers of dreamy vocals and pulsing synths open up into an expansive and cinematic chorus; Robinson’s vocals soaring and dripping with feeling. There’s an uneasy undertone to the soundscape, mirroring the tension in the lyrical matter.

“Landslide is a song that has come to take on a few meanings,” explains Robinson. “To the listener, it could feel like the unravelling of a relationship that cannot be saved but for me, it’s a conversation between me and my shadow self... the part of my mind that at times, sits in darker places. In facing the shadow aspects of ourselves, we work through that pain to shed a new layer and get closer to the light. Landslide is the intensity and frustration before the moment of acceptance comes.”

Co-written with Maxwell Cooke (Ellie Goulding, LUNA) and frequent collaborator Charles Macdonald, the track was then mixed by Erik Madrid and mastered by Chris Gehringer. The foundation for the track began with Robinson layering her vocals to form the intro and verses, which is one of the artists’ “favourite ways to start songs at the moment.”

“For a long time, I really couldn’t find the chorus for the song,” she explains. “I really let pressure get to me at times and have to remind myself to trust the process. Then one night, I was watching ‘Saltburn’ and the cinematography truly made me feel so inspired. I ran upstairs and quickly lay down the idea... I then shut the laptop and went to bed and woke up and was like “oh wow! That’s the chorus!”

Today’s release is the second single to come from Robinson this year, following the massive track The War On Art, which reached #12 on the NZ Hot 20 Singles Chart and featured in Rolling Stone AU/NZ, NZ Herald, Sniffers, ZM, The Hits, and more.

Robinson made her first big statement in 2018 with her sparkling pop gem Nothing To Regret (certified Platinum in New Zealand and double Platinum in Australia). In 2020, she released her debut four-track EP Watching You. In 2023, she burst back onto the scene with her EP Chasing Nirvana, featuring the single Things Aren’t Nice In Paradise which hit #1 on the Hot 20 NZ Singles Chart. The EP quickly racked up hundreds of thousands of streams on Spotify alone, with Teenage Renegade reaching over 1.5 million. In 2023 she also opened for OneRepublic, taking in shows across Australia before performing at Auckland’s Spark Arena.

Landslide gives another glimpse into Robinson’s new chapter, with the track showcasing the romantic and moody side to her artistry. “This next EP is going to be full of darkness, energy and moments of real truth. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”
