Swallow the Rat share new single and video: 'Small Plates'

20 August 2024 - 0 Comments

Tāmaki Makaurau post-punks Swallow the Rat treat us to a new single, Small Plates, accompanied by a moody video by drummer/vocalist Hayden Fritchley.

Singer/bassist Stephen Horsley says, "Small Plates is a reflection on [Auckland street] Karangahape Road, its gentrification, and what role Aucklanders have played in how it has changed over the years. Time has seen it go from the city's flashest shopping destination, to urban clearances of the Maori and Pasifika communities, to both a red light and artistic district, to becoming a slightly edgier version of Ponsonby Road."

As an added bonus, Barnaby Greebles (of the Kirikiriroa-based band Orbjks) has done an excellent remix of Small Plates. which will be released this Friday August 23rd.
