Sailors, the latest single from Napoleon Baby, is the first in a run of singles leading to the release of their debut album in late 2024 and their first since signing with Group Speed. Sailors is a satirical look at individuals with inflated egos who often play the victim, hiding behind self-diagnoses to avoid confronting their own flaws. The narrative critiques how they manipulate self-perception and external perceptions, questioning the authenticity of their self-awareness and the sincerity of their introspection. Napoleon Baby chief songwriter, Dan, says, “It’s a homage and an awakening for those of us who only want to remain in the red, who want to always be in the fight…basically hipster arseholes who never leave their small town”.

Napoleon Baby draws from a wide and captivating array of influences, spanning the soulful depth of Nina Simone and the harmonies of The Everly Brothers to the introspective edge of Thom Yorke and the grit of Arctic Monkeys. Their sound also nods to the eclectic styles of Arcade Fire, Talking Heads, The Modern Lovers, and Violent Femmes.
