NIGHTMARES ON WAX PRESENTS – WAX ON RECORDS VOL.3

This the 3rd volume of Nightmares On Wax presents “Wax On Records” features yet another amazing bunch of music, carefully selected by E.A.S.E. aka George Evelyn aka Nightmares On Wax and Wax On Records boss. Established label artists like Gelka and Negghead appear on here with fresh-from-the-oven material alongside artists soon to drop LPs such as Marcel, Hungryghost and Rapscallion. Plus great tunes from Alphabet’s Heaven and Scratch 22 (New Zealand) who won “Land Your Tune On Our Next Compilation“. They’re outernational future classics, ignoring any sort of genre borders or limitations and all thoughtfully nurtured and handpicked by Nightmares On Wax.

PIERCE THE VEIL – SELFISH MACHINES

The long awaited follow up to Pierce The Veil’s genre defying debut is finally available and is sure to surpass even the high expectations that fans have for it. Produced by Mike Green (Paramore, Set Your Goals) the result is 12 tracks of catchy pop hooks paired with metal tinged guitars and aggressive vocals that only Pierce the Veil could meld together so flawlessly. Touring Australia and New Zealand for the first time in September with Attack Attack! on the Take Action 2010 tour the Australian/NZ edition of “Selfish Machine” comes with two exclusive bonus tracks. Bonus!

For Fans of: The Fall of Troy, Muse, Chiodos

THE SIRENS OF VENICE – THE SIRENS OF VENICE

Melbourne’s The Sirens Of Venice are full of moving melodies and arresting moments, they make music which is big, playful, dark, and hopeful. Best known as frontman of Gersey (who only recently came off national tour with Pavement), Craig Jackson’s latest project was conceived through a joint love of songwriting with his actress/musician wife, Camilla.  The album was produced by none other than Vince Giarrusso, from legendary Australian act Underground Lovers, as well as and Jed Palmer.

For Fans of: Lawrence Arabia, Velvet Underground, Mazzy Star

AUTECHRE – MOVE OF TEN

Beaming their visionary strain of electronic music since 91' by way of Rochdale, Lancashire, Sean Booth and Rob Brown are Autechre, one of the most fiercely adored and respected electronic acts of modern times. Like Aphex Twin, Autechre were about as close to being experimental-techno superstars as the tenets of their genre and the limitations of their audience allowed. Autechre’s new release “Move of Ten” is now being released to the masses; the 10 track release follows the acclaimed and most recent Autechre album “Oversteps”.

For Fans of: Aphex Twin, Plaid, Squarepusher

VARIOUS ARTISTS – HORSE MEAT DISCO II

The UK’s finest disco operators, Horse Meat Disco, return with another killer album of tried and tested underground disco, Italo and rarities that have been rocking crowds from their base in Vauxhall, London, to dancefloors worldwide during 2009-10. “Horse Meat Disco II” brings together another essential selection of New York classics alongside a host of lesser known discoveries for all fans of underground disco. Anthems include Zanzibar favourite ‘You Can Get Over’ by Stephanie Mills and Rinder & Lewis’ ‘Afrodesia’ under their El Coco pseudonym.

For Fans of: Larry Levan, Chromeo, Georgio Moroder

URBAN MYTH CLUB – HELIUM

“Helium” is the critically-acclaimed debut album from the UK collective Urban Myth Club. The UK collective hit headlines after gate-crashing the Top 30 with their debut single "I Feel It" and reaching No.1 on MySpace's ‘Top Electronic Artists Chart’ along with reaching No.1 on Amazon’s ‘Chill charts’. IN FEAR AND FAITH – IMPERIAL

Despite the plethora of music hailing from southern California, In Fear and Faith have proven themselves worthy of our attention. After selling over 20,000 records with their first release “Your World On Fire” (which peaked at #193 on the Billboard 200) and finishing their second studio album with producer guru Brian McTernan (Converge, Thrice, From Autumn to Ashes), "Imperial" will serve as a testament to the bands who will be on display at this summer's Warped Tour.

For Fans of: Parkway Drive, Senses Fail, Thrice

GLOWING WORDS FOR TONO & THE FINANCE COMPANY!

“this six track EP is a total joy from start to finish – a hidden gem to be sure, and one that I urge you uncover for yourself because I think you’ll be far from disappointed” – Andrew Tidball (Cheese On Toast)

“Tonnon is an intelligent, adult lyricist (and possesses a dark, assured voice) and if the music seduces in its pop-smarts, then be prepared to be provoked into thought by what the subject matter is. One of the most surprising and rewarding local discs of the year.” – Graham Reid (Elsewhere.co.nz)

“A vocal delivery that is at times clipped, other times languid or soaring despite its pointed observations, suggests Tonnon might just be a fan of acclaimed British band The Smiths, in particular its singer, Morrissey. Yet ‘Fragile Thing’ is no rip-off. Like its predecessor, the EP reveals a songwriter unafraid to back his craft and run with his instincts.” – Shane Gilchrist (Otago Daily Times)

“This isn’t just life with the boring bits left in, Tono is saying in effect that life is the boring bits, and his trick is to show us that those things are actually interesting!”Nick Bollinger (Radio NZ)

“Dunedin-raised songwriter Anthonie Tonnon heads up a soundtrack of unease” – Dan Trevarthan (***** – Real Groove)

“With their singular mix of tenderness, detachment, fine detail and savage wit, songs such as “Describing The Harbour” and “Barry Smith of Hamilton” suggest Tono might be Mosgiel’s answer to Morrissey” – Grant Smithies (‘Album of the Week’ – Sunday Star Times)
