Pearly Gate Music is the musical outpouring of Zach Tillman brother of Fleet Foxes drummer and singer/songwriter in his own right Josh Tillman. But Zach is a different species to his brother, Zach’s music has a self-professed ‘slacker’ vibe, drawing inspiration from bands like The Velvet Underground, Pavement and Neutral Milk Hotel, but like these aforementioned bands he has the ability to create real beauty. It’s haunting, mysterious, and elusive.

As a stalwart in the independent scene and forbears of the melodic hardcore sound, Good Riddance worked tirelessly to create a consistent stream of new material. Their indefatigable drive presented the band with the opportunity to release a multitude of singles, splits (with other hardcore acts Ignite, Ill Repute, Ensign), and various other offerings, none of which was ever included on their full-length albums. “Capricorn One” is a collection of all these songs as well as six previously unreleased tracks.

Following upon the success of “The Colossus”, RJD2 returns with “Inversions of the Colossus”, a companion piece of its own unique nature. In essence, all 7 of the vocal songs on “The Colossus” appear here sans vocals. The remainder of the album is made up of 7 new songs-14 tracks in all! Ranging from banging dancefloor funk to extreme psychedelia, it follows a similar “no format” approach as “The Colossus” did. Yet another solid collection of classic RJD2.
