Three EPs in, prolific MC, Tommy Ill, is a svelte yet metaphorically obese young man – as his proverbial belt is having to be stretched yet again to make room for his self-titled debut LP. Tommy Ill has made his name with haphazard live sets and his humorous tales that document the foibles of your average, slightly awkward, fellow with Dionysian-leaning tendencies. Now on his debut LP, Tommy Ill combines all his powers of past 3 EPs with a new rap repertoire, kind of like when the Planeteers combined their powers to summon Captain Planet.

Monster Movie returns with “Everyone Is A Ghost”, the latest from the London-based duo of Christian Savill of Slowdive and Sean Hewson of Eternal. Perhaps Monster Movie’s finest realization yet, “Everyone Is A Ghost” distills the sprawling and infinitely expansive floorboard-gazing fuzz-wall of Slowdive into ten perfectly-baked and intensely catchy pop songs. Featuring guest appearances from Ryan Graveface (Dreamend, Black Moth Super Rainbow), Sophie Pittaway, Rachel Staggs (Experimental Aircraft) and The CD & LP are limited editions and are hand numbered!

The first collection of new original material in about 4 years from one of the most iconic American roots/rock bands of the past three decades. Like so much of Los Lobos’ previous work, “Tin Can Trust” is an album that speaks to the time and place in which it was conceived. The 11 tracks on “Tin Can Trust” offer the perfect balance of Los Lobos’ parts and display Los Lobos’ signature seamless infusion of Mexican folk songs into rock music. Also included is a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “West L.A. Fadeaway” - offering a nod to the bands’ shared history of when the Angelenos befriended and opened shows for their northern peers

New York 2-piece Department of Eagles is Daniel Rossen (Grizzly Bear) and Fred Nicolaus. This Bella Union release collects their unreleased work from 2003 to 2006, and is a must for fans of DoE as well as Daniel’s “day job”. Split roughly between conventional songs and instrumental sketches, “Archive 2003 – 2006”, is comprised of previously unreleased recordings by the pair. “Archive 2003 – 2006” captures their song-writing at a few moments of critical development and provides the template for the ambitious, sprawling pop of their later accomplishments.

It can be said some bands truly embody a certain spirit or emotion. Without a doubt, Massachusetts’ long running juggernauts, The Acacia Strain, truly embody anger. And that shows more than ever on their new full length, “Wormwood.” For “Wormwood,” the band returned to the scene of the creation of “Continent;” producer Zeus’ Planet Z Studio in Hadley, MA, where he’s previously worked with the likes of Hatebreed, The Red Chord, All That Remains, and more. Following the success of their previous full-length, “Continent,” “Wormwood” is guaranteed to satisfy even your angriest customer.
For Fans of: Parkway Drive, As I Lay Dying, Hatebreed
“Be Yourself” is an album of Graham Nash songs, covered by contemporary artists. Graham Nash came to fame as a member of The Hollies before continuing as 1/3rd of Crosby, Stills and Nash (and as ¼ when Neil Young joined in). “Be Yourself” features several big names in the indie-folk/ nu-country world, such as Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold and Bonnie Prince Billy. Compiled by Graham’s daughter Nile, the album also features contributions from Vetiver, Brendan Benson, Alela Diane, members of Espers, Sleepy Sun, Port O’Brien and more.
