“Familial” is the debut solo album from Philip Selway, but far from his first record. In his role as drummer in Radiohead he has sold millions worldwide, and built up a fan base that will be dead keen to hear this. He was also a songwriting member of the “Seven Worlds Collide” project with Neil Finn, Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) and others. “Familial” is a beautiful collection of fragile, haunting and heartfelt songs, recorded with help from Lisa Germano and Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche, as well as Don McGlashan.

Ash Grunwald's fifth studio album, “Hot Mama Vibes”, is neck-deep in the technological swamp of the 21st Century. It's also the most primal concoction of elemental junkyard soul to stomp through your speakers this year. Ash, now a 10-year veteran of live stages from Byron Bay Bluesfest to the Montreux Jazz Festival. Recorded in two states, then fine-tuned by email and every other kind of digital voodoo going, “Hot Mama Vibes” is a radical combination of this kind of damn-the-torpedoes bravado and painstaking collaborative tweaking with a close pool of maverick compadres.

Fronted by enigmatically grizzled vocalist and guitarist Paul Major and built on an unshakable blue-collar foundation comprising Jesper Eklow, Mark Ohe, and Harry Druzd, Endless Boogie was formed on the blood and sweat of classic rock workmen. Guzzled by hard livin’ acolytes and shunned by those fearing provocation of the dusty party gods of yore, Endless Boogie cling to rock ’n’ roll life as if it were life itself. Once a hobby, now becoming the powerhouse they were meant to be the Boogie now release “Full House Head”.

The culmination of eight years of hard work, heartache and good times, “Endless Roads” is the sound of a passionate, road-hardened band at the height of their powers. Written throughout 2009, “Endless Roads” was recorded in New York with producer Dean Baltulonis (Sick Of It All, American Nightmare, The Hold Steady), whose insider knowledge of hardcore coupled with supreme sound-pulling skills brought out the very best in Miles Away’s old school meets-new school sound.
